At the heart of the Lancaster Distilleries origin story stands a collective of friends-turned-business partners that's been hard at work transforming an iconic independent theater into the multifaceted art house / music venue / farm-to-table restaurant / craft distillery that stands today.

As one of five partners at the helm of Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse, Nate Boring brought both his craftsman spirit & his love for distilled spirits to the proverbial table as the team got to work establishing the legacy Lancaster theater in its new Downtown Lancaster home. Having designed & even built much of the restaurant's interior – casting glass-reinforced fiberglass to create the tiles that became the face of the bar; constructing the bar from live-edge lumber & a shuffleboard table – Boring's made his mark on virtually every fit & finish in the place.

And then there's the booze...

Since emerging on the craft distilling scene in 2018, Lancaster Distilleries' portfolio of spirits has garnered some high praise & accolades from within the industry (thanks, John Barleycorn & American Distilling Institute!) alongside countless, totally-not-biased compliments from close friends & family members (thanks, mom & dad!), beginning with its lineup of rums & followed closely by a smattering of gins, vodkas & specialty small-batch spirits. By late 2020, LD spirits were added to the shelves of select Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores throughout Lancaster County.

And in 2021, Lancaster Distilleries made history for being the first producer to sell alcohol in the nation’s oldest farmers' market — Lancaster Central Market – where you can also find a rotating hodgepodge of other house-made, libation-enhancing goodies like bitters, syrups, shrubs & mixers.

Speaking of farmers... If you haven't heard about Lancaster, Pennsylvania's storied agricultural heritage, the punch line is that there's a whole lotta fresh produce to be had here in the county. Which is why our team takes pride in featuring the bounty of our local farmers in each and every bottle of Lancaster Distilleries spirits. Heck, we even craft our own barrels from PA-grown White Oak, the likes of which help our Oaked Rum & Roaring Brook Bourbon fully actualized into the booze we knew they could be.
